Notes: First appearance of Crowley, Sam kills 2 Demons, Crowley kills 2 Demons, Dean shoots a Hellhound with the colt… so dead? Jo is mauled by one. First mention of Death as an angel. They mention that there are upwards of 8 hellhounds, effects from cameras and such show at least 4. Blown up in building explosion… so killed? Dean shoots Lucifer with the colt and he gets up showing it won’t work and Lucifer admits through exposition that he is one of 5 things in creation that the colt cannot kill, 23 on screen demons give their lives via the ritual Lucifer is doing, Lucifer claims to have killed all of the women and children in Carthage Missouri as well as any non able bodied man. Dean mentions 6 missing persons on the way since Sunday while they are at Bobby’s house in Sioux Falls South Dakota for the prep. There are no specifics given as to where Crowley is at the beginning of the episode, or where the brothers are, but considering the ego of Crowley and the palatial estate coupled with convenience, it seems safe to assume nowhere near Carthage which is 8 hours from Sioux Falls by car so it is highly likely that all of Lucifer’s kills happen during the episode especially since it is for a ritual and those usually don’t stretch for weeks. We are going to use real life Carthage as a comparison since Bobby verifies that the death total needed to be huge and the show happens in 2009 so we will use the 2010 census info for a basis. They had a population of 14,378(adjusting for growth let’s be generous and round down to 14,000). 49% were male. 21% of those were either children or 65 and over. Let’s assume 5% disabled in some fashion? That leaves 23% of the population turned into demons or 3,220. The entire town is wiped out but it is uncertain if all of the demons gave their essence like the ones on screen did. It is a safe assumption that even if they didn’t, the hosts would not have survived the ordeal.
